Back for a new season! Very successful first day back for me in the new season, with a Roman fly brooch and a silver hammered (yet to be IDd). These were just a meter apart in very shallow dust/dirt! Plus something else, I have no idea what.

Neolithic scraper! Also unidentified button / brooch / pendant Apparently, the disc is a Roman horse harness boss. I’m not sure about this now though!

Nothing much today but the second from the right at the bottom has a fleur de lis on it.

I almost threw it away I found a couple of part fibula brooches this week which was good in itself. Then, when I was about to throw it away, I realised the bit of lead I thought I had was in actual fact a Denarius. Yet to be identified.

Yippee and Halleluja! Back in the saddle today! Found a Sestertius, an 1861 Victorian penny and a button. Not many good signals, but a good day out. The reverse side of the Sestertius is very worn, unfortunately. I checked my Spinks ‘Coins of England’ book but can’t see the vague obverse anywhere. Flo might know!
